We are growing our Demolition and Decommissioning team in Italy and are looking for a Demolition and Decommissioning Engineer to support technical delivery across concrete, multidisciplinary projects.
The opportunity
In this role, you will join a specialized technical team working on demolition, decommissioning, dismantling and remediation projects for civil and industrial assets. You will contribute to technical documentation, site visits, quantity take-offs, cost and time estimates, design activities and engineering assessments, working closely with experienced colleagues from day one.
How You Will Make An Impact
Your work will support the delivery of demolition, decommissioning and remediation projects, helping our clients plan and execute safe, practical and technical sound solutions.
- Prepare decommissioning and dismantling plans, technical documentation, specifications and project deliverables.
- Support the preparation of drawings, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, time estimates and technical reports.
- Carry out structural checks and contribute to the assessment of temporary conditions linked to demolition and decommissioning activities.
- Contribute to environmental assessments of buildings, hazardous materials, waste streams and remediation requirements.
- Contribute to waste management and material recovery strategies aligned with circular economy principles.
- Provide technical support during site visits, inspections and site-based activities, working with internal specialists, clients, contractors and authorities where required.
The team around you
You will join WSP Italy’s Demolition and Decommissioning engineering team, a distributed group working across several offices, with strong technical expertise in Pisa.

You will be supported by experienced colleagues, exposed to different project phases and encouraged to grow both technically and, over time, towards broader coordination or project responsibilities.
What You Will Bring To The Role
We focus on the essential skills and experience needed for success, while welcoming different technical backgrounds and career paths.
- 2 to 5 years of professional experience in engineering design, demolition, decommissioning, structural assessment, environmental remediation or technical site support.
- A degree in Civil, Building or Environmental Engineering, or equivalent practical technical experience.
- Fluent Italian and English language, with the ability to work on documentation, technical concepts and meetings in both languages.
- Interest in demolition, dismantling, decommissioning, hazardous materials, waste management, remediation plans or nuclear decommissioning. Previous exposure to D&D or nuclear decommissioning projects would be considered an advantage.
- Availability for occasional travel, estimated at around 10 to 15% depending on project needs.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and general-purpose structural calculation software. BIM/Revit, MS Project, Primavera, Health and Safety certifications, professional registration, knowledge of D.Lgs. 101⁄2020.

Compensation And Benefits
WSP is committed to pay transparency. The annual gross salary range for this position is €24,000 - €33,000. The final offer will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications and relevant expertise. In addition to base salary, we offer a benefits package and opportunities for professional development.
