Job Purpose

As part of the local Critical Facility Team, Critical Facility Technicians ensure the data center is operating both smoothly and efficiently 24/7/365, to prevent downtime on our critical services.

Critical Facility Technicians are responsible for the inspection, operation and maintenance of all equipment associated with the data center.

They are expected to be strong technically with great troubleshooting abilities and a desire to work in a demanding yet rewarding environment.

Dependent on business needs, the Critical Facility Team’s on-site presence is organized (either 1 or 2):

  • 1. During business hours, with an on-call duty arrangement for 24/7 operational cover
  • 2. In a 24/7 operating shift hour schedule, covering all hours of the day, all year round

Separate arrangements regarding working hours, compensation and other regulations are locally agreed for each team at their respective site/campus, according to local work legislation.

Tasks

  • Perform operational and preventative maintenance tasks on all Mechanical & Electrical equipment as assigned
  • Perform regular, documented inspections on defined critical equipment, rooms, and systems
  • Monitor and act on alarms from operational monitoring systems (BMS, PMS, etc.)
  • Be the first response whenever an incident occurs and elevate
  • according to established processes and procedures
  • Carry out isolations and re-instatement of Electrical, Cooling, Fire Alarms and Gas Suppression systems when required and where authorised
  • Ensure all plant equipment operates in its most efficient condition
  • Escort external and internal personnel without own access card and /or where work, security or safety requires to be present (i. e., customers and suppliers)
  • Provide cross-departmental support (Projects, Sales, Customer & Admin Services, Finance, etc.) when required.
  • Follow up local Housekeeping Rules and Facility Manuals
  • Maintain up to date and accurate log of work completed and outstanding items in the Facility Management System
  • Assist in preparing quotations for technical works
  • Follow up Service Agreements, relevant suppliers and service reports as well as manage the reports
  • Operate as a team by sharing expertise and experience to resolve operational issues, developing and testing required operational procedures based on industry 'best practice'
  • Report and handle deviations (Incidents, Problems, etc.) discovered on site, according to relevant processes, and find solutions based on root cause analysis
  • Perform work in accordance with laws and regulations, company requirements described in the Management System, local procedures and customer requirements described in SLA's
  • Undertake required training and stay up to date within relevant disciplines
  • Ensure correct storage of documents related to building, infrastructure, systems, and tools
  • Ensure proper handover of relevant information within the team when required
  • Installation and management of network services
  • Installation and customization of computer rack and IT infrastructure
  • Escorting services
  • Supporting company activities in developing services and solutions, regarding fiber and copper installation and fit out
  • Participate in client meetings, presenting solutions and uncover customer needs
  • Prepare surfaces for offer to customer
  • Negotiate Solutions
  • Follow up deliveries and installations

JOB PRACTICALITIES

  • Critical Facility Technicians performs work at Vaultica data centers
  • Interaction and flexibility between the data centers are required to obtain specialist knowledge, develop best practice, and enabling ability to cover up, respond to emergencies, etc.
  • Company work clothes shall be worn
  • Relevant PPE must be used where and when required to comply with national Health & Safety Regulations and VAULTICA's Health & Safety Procedures

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • Preferably vocational education degree within Electrical or Mechanical discipline or equivalent.
  • Preferably 2 years' experience with electrical systems in a critical environment and / or at a data center. If not, 5 years of experience with regular electrical systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of various maintenance fundamentals to deal with service and repairs.
  • Ability to perform a range of complexed work activities with some degree of personal responsibility and autonomy.
  • Strong at team work as well as individual work
  • Manage to see the little details as well as the great picture / overview
  • IT and computer skilled within operating in various software tools and systems
  • Good communication skills, written and spoken. Fluent in English
