Overview
In this role you drive front-line research in condensed matter and statistical physics, shaping projects and advancing the section’s scientific agenda. You will mentor post-doctoral fellows, supervise students, and teach ICTP programmes, strengthening capacity in developing countries. You collaborate across international partners, organize events and coordinate grants to broaden training and research impact. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to ICTP’s mission of education and scientific excellence on a global scale.

Responsabilità
- Conduct front-line research and develop/implement projects in your field
- Participate in hiring post-doctoral fellows
- Mentor post-doctoral fellows, associates, visitors or fellows
- Present research results at major international meetings
- Teach in Diploma programme and supervise Diploma, MSc and PhD theses
- Supervise and mentor MSc/PhD students and participate in student selections
- Teach in ICTP international programmes held at ICTP or elsewhere
- Establish cooperation with scientists from developing countries and identify training needs
- Organize ICTP meetings and external activities, focusing on developing countries
- Apply for and manage individual research grants
- Engage in ICTP Partner Institutes programmes
Requisiti fondamentali
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics or related discipline
- At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in condensed matter and/or statistical physics or related field
- Preferably at least 2 years of international experience
- Internationally recognized research achievements in physics of quantum many-body systems, quantum information processing, quantum technologies or related field
- Experience in teaching/mentoring undergraduate or postgraduate students
- Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary, multicultural team
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to synthesize information
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues in English
- Experience in design, implementation and management of scientific projects
