Overview
In this role you design and evaluate aerothermodynamics for space re-entry scenarios, developing CFD models and protecting vehicles with optimized TPS. You work within the Thermal & Environmental Control and Propulsion department to define requirements and support R&D. You translate complex aerothermal data into reliable loads and design choices, while coordinating test campaigns. Your work contributes to mission success and advances space vehicle performance. You join a multidisciplinary team driving innovative solutions for space exploration and defense.
Responsabilità
- Assess and define system and mission requirements
- Perform CFD modelling and flow-field simulations; quantify aerothermal loads
- Define thermal protection systems and preliminarily evaluate TPS performance
- Preliminary design optimization of thermal protection and related structures
- Oversee test campaigns and ensure data quality
- Create aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics databases for control
- Support and manage R&D activities
Requisiti fondamentali
- Master degree in Aerospace Engineering or Physics
- Experience in CFD; industrial or academic background
- Solid fundamentals in fluid dynamics and aerothermodynamics
- Proficiency in programming (Fortran, C++); Matlab
- Knowledge of CFD tools (Metacomp CFD++, Ansys Fluent or equivalent) is a plus
- Team orientation; curiosity, proactivity, autonomy
- Multidisciplinary engineering mindset (fluid-dynamics, thermal, mission analysis, flight dynamics)
- Good English (spoken and written)
