Overview
In this role you will lead contractual and commercial risk management for a large-scale LNG EPC project in East Africa. You will provide strategic contract leadership across the client, JV partners, subcontractors and McDermott stakeholders to protect commercial interests. You will drive change management, claims development and dispute avoidance to support on-time delivery and revenue optimization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to shape contract strategy and governance in a high-pressure, multicultural environment. This is a senior, impact-focused opportunity to influence a mega project from award through close-out and commercial maturity.
Responsabilità
- Protect McDermott’s contractual and commercial interests in a complex EPC/JV environment
- Lead development and refinement of the project contractual/commercial strategy
- Ensure obligations, rights, risks, and opportunities are understood and managed
- Drive change management, substantiation, negotiation and resolution with client and stakeholders
- Provide senior-level contractual leadership to support delivery, risk mitigation and dispute avoidance
- Draft baseline contract requirements and disseminate them to the project team
- Prepare a flow-down clause plan for pass-through to subcontractors and vendors
- Contribute to contracts management process improvements and tools
- Act as primary contact with ExxonMobil for contractual issues during execution
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders across project functions and JV/consortium partners
- Maintain contractual awareness and coordinate with Legal support as needed
- Lead or participate in change management meetings and assess cost/schedule impacts
- Support development and substantiation of claims and assistance to Supply Chain in correspondence
- Coordinate contractual correspondence and timely backcharges with vendors/subcontractors
- Support risk, finance, close-out and commercial controls including insurance and securities
- Lead, mentor and develop contract administration personnel
- Promote collaborative but disciplined approach across McDermott, JV partners and clients
Requisiti fondamentali
- 15+ years of project execution experience in energy and/or construction
- 8–10 years in contracts/commercial management or equivalent leadership roles
- University degree in Contract Management, Quantity Surveying or similar
- Strong understanding of EPC contract structures, JV agreements and subcontracting models
- Contractual interpretation, change management, claims development and dispute avoidance
- Experience in multi-partner JV or consortium environments
- Knowledge of international contracting principles and dispute avoidance
- Ability to operate in high-pressure, multicultural, dispersed project environments
- Prior experience with major multinational oil and gas clients; IOC experience desirable
