As part of the Italy Management Centre, based in Milan, we are looking for an experienced Life, Accident & Health Senior Reinsurance Underwriter to join our team.
The selected professional will operate within the Milan Management Centre while maintaining a functional reporting line to the Life Department organization at Regional Management level. The role will contribute to the development, profitability and technical management of Mapfre Re’s Life, Accident & Health reinsurance portfolio, supporting the execution of the market strategy and the continued growth of the reinsurance business in Italy.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the preparation of the budget, business plan and market strategy, together with the LAH Regional Manager and Underwriting Management teams.
- Assess, price and underwrite new Life, Accident & Health reinsurance business opportunities (facultative risks and treaty business), evaluating their viability and deciding on their acceptance or rejection in accordance with the technical underwriting criteria established by Management, with the objective of ensuring a profitable and balanced risk portfolio.
- Manage the in-force and run-off reinsurance portfolio, including profitability monitoring, accounting activities, and internal and external reporting.
- Participate in market events, both as an attendee and as a speaker.
- Manage relationships with insurance companies and reinsurance brokers through regular meetings and negotiations, with the aim of developing and strengthening commercial relationships, carrying out technical assessments of risks and contracts, and providing training services.
- Share technical knowledge within the Life Unit and across the Management Centres.
Requirements
Education
- Degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, Business Administration or related fields.
- Actuarial qualification will be highly valued.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of underwriting experience in Life, Accident & Health reinsurance, including both pricing and underwriting responsibilities.
- Strong technical knowledge of products, legislation and underwriting practices, together with commercial expertise and established relationships with insurance companies and reinsurance brokers in the Italian market.
Languages
- Fluent Italian and English.
- Knowledge of Spanish would be considered an asset.
