Health & Safety Documentation Specialist

Location: Andover, MA
Pay Rate: $38.00/hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional with a passion for creating clear, effective safety programs and documentation? We are seeking a Health & Safety Documentation Specialist to support critical safety initiatives within a manufacturing and facility operations environment.

In this role, you will partner with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Engineering, and Operations teams to develop, review, and implement comprehensive machine safety and health & safety documentation. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys collaborating across teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, and building programs that promote a safe and productive workplace.

Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & Safety Program Development

  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for critical health and safety programs, including:
    • Confined Space Entry
    • Utility Operations
    • Fire Protection Systems
    • Fall Protection
    • Spill Prevention and Response
  • Support the development of safety programs for new construction, facility startup, and operational environments.

Documentation Management

  • Review existing machine safety and health & safety documentation to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including:
    • Risk Assessments
    • Safety Procedures
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Training Materials
    • Compliance Documentation
  • Ensure all documentation is clear, concise, accurate, and easy to understand.
  • Organize and manage safety records to ensure readiness for audits, inspections, and training requirements.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure documentation aligns with OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct site assessments to identify workplace hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support compliance initiatives related to confined spaces, hazardous materials, fire safety, fall protection, and machine safety.
  • Review and validate documentation for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with EHS, Engineering, Operations, and other subject matter experts to gather technical information and develop effective safety documentation.
  • Provide regular project updates and progress reports to leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on workplace safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

QualificationsRequired Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing health and safety programs in manufacturing, construction, facility startup, industrial, or engineering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • OSHA regulations
    • NFPA standards
    • Machine safety principles
    • Risk assessment methodologies
    • Hazard identification and mitigation
  • Experience creating and managing SOPs, policies, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate technical information into user-friendly documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and document review skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting machine safety initiatives within manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • Background in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Industrial Safety, Engineering, Manufacturing, or Construction Safety.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Familiarity with facility startup or greenfield project environments.
