Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort is one of Italy’s most iconic luxury hotels, celebrated for its unique beachfront setting, rich heritage and distinctive connection to Venice.
As we continue the hotel’s repositioning into a leading luxury lifestyle destination, we are seeking an inspirational, commercially astute and highly visible Director of Rooms to lead and elevate our Rooms Division.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, this pivotal leadership role has responsibility for Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Laundry, Reservations, Beach and Pool Operations, and the hotel’s boat service.
About the Role
As Director of Rooms, you will lead the complete guest journey, ensuring seamless, personalised and memorable experiences from arrival through to departure.
You will combine strategic thinking with a hands-on leadership style, maintaining a strong presence throughout the resort and working closely with departmental leaders to create a culture of accountability, collaboration, engagement and continuous improvement.
You will be the ultimate host of the resort: visible, approachable and genuinely connected to guests, colleagues and the daily operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire all Rooms Division teams to deliver exceptional service and consistently high luxury hospitality standards.
- Shape and elevate the guest journey, ensuring every experience reflects the unique spirit of the Lido: relaxed, elegant and effortlessly refined.
- Build authentic relationships with guests, creating a sense of belonging that transforms individual stays into lasting connections.
- Drive service excellence across Front Office, Guest Services, Reservations, Housekeeping, Laundry, Beach, Pool and Boat Operations.
- Develop and support departmental leaders, fostering a culture of pride, ownership, accountability and professional growth.
- Champion an intuitive, personal and unscripted approach to service that goes beyond expectations.
- Oversee Beach and Pool Operations as integral extensions of the resort experience, bringing to life the charm of the cabanas and the rhythm of seaside living.
- Oversee the Excelsior boat service, ensuring safe, efficient and seamless connections between the resort and Venice.
- Ensure Housekeeping and Laundry deliver impeccable standards of cleanliness, presentation and attention to detail.
- Monitor and improve guest satisfaction, online reputation, service recovery and guest loyalty.
- Lead daily operational meetings and coordinate activities across the Rooms Division and the wider hotel.
- Maximise rooms revenue through effective inventory management, forecasting, upselling and close collaboration with the Revenue and Commercial teams.
- Manage departmental budgets, labour costs, productivity and overall financial performance.
- Ensure the highest standards of presentation and maintenance throughout guest accommodation and public areas.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and the overall guest experience.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety, maritime and pool safety requirements, security, data protection and company policies.
- Act as a visible ambassador for Hotel Excelsior Venice and its continued repositioning.
About You
You will be an accomplished Rooms Division leader with significant senior-level experience in luxury hotels or resorts.
You will possess
- Senior Rooms Division leadership experience within a luxury hotel, resort or high-end hospitality environment.
- Strong operational knowledge across Front Office, Guest Services, Reservations, Housekeeping and Laundry.
- Previous experience overseeing resort facilities such as beach, pool or leisure operations.
- A strong track record of delivering exceptional guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
- Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets, labour costs, forecasting, productivity and revenue optimisation.
- Outstanding leadership, coaching and team-development abilities.
- Exceptional guest engagement, communication and problem-solving skills.
- A keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to quality.
- Experience with OPERA, Birch Street and housekeeping or maintenance-tracking systems.
- Fluency in English; Italian is strongly preferred.
- Eligibility to work in Italy.
