Role Description This full-time Optical Engineer role is an on-site position based in Padua. The Optical Engineer will design, model, and optimize adaptive optical systems and components, including lenses, mirrors, and wavefront sensing solutions. Daily tasks include performing optical simulations, analyzing system performance, and supporting the integration of optical subsystems into complex instruments. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams on requirements definition, prototyping, testing, and validation of optical designs for applications such as microscopy, laser processing, and imaging. The Optical Engineer will also contribute to documentation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of existing products and processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Optical Design and Optical Engineering, including modeling, simulation, and analysis of optical systems.
  • Experience with laser-based applications and Systems Design, particularly in integrating optical components into complete instruments.
  • Solid foundation in Physics, with the ability to apply theoretical principles to practical optical and photonic designs.
  • Proficiency with optical design software (e.g., Zemax, Code V, COMSOL) and familiarity with laboratory measurement tools and methods.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to work on-site in Padua, collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, and communicate technical concepts clearly in English.
  • Experience in adaptive optics, laser systems, microscopy, or imaging applications is highly beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a practical, hands-on approach to experimental validation and troubleshooting.
